Improve your golf game with an at-home putting green!
Improve your golf game by bringing it home and going artificial!
On the surface, you might think that going with a natural grass putting green in your backyard is the way to go because it will have he same look and feel of the golf course and allow you to practice in similar conditions, however, natural grass putting greens require a LOT of special upkeep. This includes regular, special trimmings to keep the green really short (as it should be), fertilizers to keep it healthy and green, lots of water, and frequent weeding. The costs and time associated with these steps can really add up!
With an artificial turf green, there isn’t really any upkeep other than ensuring it is clear of debris (i.e. leaves). It’s low-maintenance overall, perfect to play on, and always ready to be a show-stopping feature in your backyard. What’s more? Even though it’s not “real” grass, the ball will react pretty similar to the roll of a regular putting green. We can work together to come up with the perfect putting green design for you!
You’ve got loads of choices with regard to the kind of grass to install.
Artificial grass is typically made with either Nylon or Polypropylene Turf material. Nylon turf performs well and is a desirable surface for putting greens. Nylon can be tufted into a very high density (face weight). This allows the fibres to be close to each other and you end up with a product that won’t require infill material and a faster, smoother surface. Nylon turf will cost a bit more than polypropylene but you’ll get a smooth omni-directional roll on your putts.
Polypropylene turf does not contain memory within its fibres. This can cause the turf to want to lay down in one direction. In order to correct this, you have to brush “infill” the turf with sand. Although this turf is less expensive than nylon turf, there is potential for the golf ball to not always roll straight when putting. Either way you go, the choice is up to you, and we will be beside you every step of the way to ensure that your putting green is truly up to par!
We can install your artificial putting green almost anywhere!
Unlike regular grass, ground conditions do not need to be perfect to install artificial turf. We can install your artificial green over a concrete base, opening up many possibilities for putting green placement in your backyard.
When installing your artificial green over a concrete base, we can glue the turf down. We do not need to weigh down the surface with infill in order to keep it in place. This method does provide some cost benefits. We can also use a compacted stone base, requiring infill in order to hold down the surface. There are also cost benefits with this type of install.
